Ultimate Salted Caramel Cupcakes

The ultimate 'treat yourself' dessert! These cupcakes are indulgent but light and fluffy - just how it should be!

Salted caramel cupcakes

What you'll need:

Cupcake batter (makes 12 standard sized cupcakes) -

Frosting - 


  1. Preheat oven to 180° celcius.
  2. Line cupcake tray with cupcake liners.
  3. Melt 1/2 cup butter in microwave. Stir in mylk and vanilla extract. Set aside.
  4. In another bowl, stir together all dry ingredients: flour, Damn Sugar salted caramel hot chocolate powder, coconut sugar, baking powder and salt.
  5. Stir in dry ingredients into wet ingredients until well combined. 
  6. Fill lined cupcake try with mixture, stopping at 3/4 full.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck into the cupcake comes out clean. 
  8. For the frosting, melt 1/2 cup vegan butter in a microwave. Stir in 2 tbsp Damn Sugar salted caramel hot chocolate in butter until dissolved. Add in a splash of milk. It may look lumpy at this point but keep going! Gradually add in icing sugar and stir with a whisk until you reach your desired consistency (make sure it's firm enough to hold piped shape).
  9. Once your cupcakes are baked and cooled, pipe your frosting onto your cupcakes. Stores well in fridge for a week.
